Paula Yankauskas, VMD

Dr. Paula Yankauskas was raised in Connecticut and first came to Vermont for college; she attended UVM for undergraduate work and put in 1 year toward a Masters’ degree in Physics before getting into veterinary school. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1981, hence the VMD (Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris, all degrees from the University of Pennsylvania are in Latin). Dr. Yankauskas founded L.V.V.S. in 1985.

Central to Dr. Yankauskas’ focus are 3 things: LVVS, family, and swimming, and vary in the order that they fall on a daily basis. Prior to starting her own practice, Dr. Yankauskas gained experience at two mixed animal practices in Vermont. She founded Lamoille Valley Veterinary Services in 1985. Dr. Yankauskas and her husband, Dale, have three children: Sarah, Jacob and Dorigen. She currently lives with 4 cats: Peanut, Scaredie, Audrey, and George. An endurance athlete, Paula swims with US Masters Swimming and loves to work at personal bests in the pool and open water. She is currently the oldest person on record to have swum the length of Lake Memphremagog (September 2014, 25 miles, at 60 years old) and the oldest USA female to have swum across the English Channel (E-F, September 2016)!

In her free time, Dr. Yankauskas has an interest in astronomy and celestial events, wildlife observation (especially birds), photography, cooking, gardening, and traveling. She also enjoys reading and writing and hopes to one day write a book (at least one!).

Her veterinary interests include: clinical behavior medicine, transfusion medicine/canine blood banking, laparoscopic surgery, and wellness care (looking at preventive care, lifestyle, nutrition, and client education to maintain health optimally).


Valerie Ann Yankauskas, DVM

Veterinarian

Valerie was born in New Britain, CT and lives in Hyde Park, VT. She shares her home with Jordan, Lukas, Eli Phant & Lola. When not at work Valerie can be found outside hiking, running with her dogs, swimming, biking, kayaking and she has started paddle boarding.

For Valerie the best part of working at LVVS is keeping our pets healthy & she loves the people she works with!

Cindy Pratt, DVM

Veterinarian

Interests: Theriogenology, breeder services, artificial insemination, Transcervical Insemination, Certified PennHipp Veterinarian

Dr. Pratt joined LVVS in the spring of 1999. A graduate of the University of Missouri, Columbia, College of Veterinary Medicine, she worked at a mixed animal veterinary practice in Tehachapi, California before joining LVVS.

Dr. Pratt has a strong interest in theriogenology, especially canine reproduction. She has also completed the training program offered by Synbiotics Referral Network making her the only certified Synbiotics canine frozen semen center in Vermont. The Pratt household includes her husband, Randy, daughter Amalie, multiple dogs, cats, goats and a horse.


Emily Buskey, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Emily has lived in Vermont her whole life, other than a short stint in Wisconsin (for school) and the High Peaks region of the adirondacks. She has a degree in music composition from Vassar College, and also attended UVM as well studying veterinary medicine at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Veterinary Medicine is a second career for her - she was previously a dairy farmer, and taught therapeutic horseback riding and worked with children with autism.

Emily shares her home with 2 cats, a horse named Tao and a chicken named Snowflake. In her free time she enjoys snowshoeing, hiking, vegetable gardening, reading, and spending time with family in the Vermont outdoors. Her veterinary interests include dentistry, public health, pathology and surgery. She enjoys working with cats and geriatric animals.


Farrell Campbell, DVM

Veterinarian
Education - Cornell University
Interests - Preventative Medicine / Well Health

Dr. Campbell joined L.V.V.S. in 2016. She was born in Connecticut and currently resides in Waterbury Center with her mix breed dog Desmond, and two rescue shelter cats Alfie and Miranda. When not at work, Farrell enjoys hiking with her dog or vegging out on the couch watching Netflix. She hopes to travel the world and go diving in a shark tank.

The best part of working at LVVS? Getting to practice veterinary medicine with supportive knowledgeable co-workers. Oh and playing with puppies and kitties.

Freda

Certified Veterinary Technician

Freda attended Vermont Technical College's Veterinary Technician Program and graduated with an Associate's Degree in Applied Science in 1996. After working at two different practices, she planted her roots here and has been associated with LVVS since 1996. Freda is also certified in PennHip.

Freda enjoys anything outdoors, snowshoeing, hiking, skiing, canoeing, and fishing. Freda also competes her 2 Quarter Horses Solana and Soleil in ranch horse competitions and extreme trail. Freda hopes to one day build a log home with her husband, Wes, along with her dog, Brie, cat, Faith, and five chickens.


Carole

Office Supervisor

Previous to joining our team, Carole worked at a resort in Stowe. Carole joined LVVS in 2003 with knowledge in hospitality. You will see her smiling face greet you when you walk in our front door every time.

Carole currently owns 3 shelties ranging from 2-10 years. Carole has special interest in canine reproduction, enjoys sunny days, and PBR, and dislikes gossip. Carole excels at raising, training, and showing her Shetland Sheepdogs with hopes of one day owning a group winning sheltie.


Owen

Veterinary Assistant

Owen has been working at LVVS since 2000. Owen works our overnight shift. He currently owns a cat named Madrox.

Owen spends his spare time watching movies, playing video games, and podcasting.
Owen hopes to one day own his own house.


Carole

Veterinary Assistant

Carole Moved to Vermont in 1993 where she has set up shop on a working farm. Carole has been working with us since 1998.

Carole and her husband run a farm with goats and horses. She also rents the cottage on their farm. Carole also raises and breeds German Shepherd Dogs. She enjoys talking with clients and helping out in exam rooms.

Carole works very hard to learn new skills and widen her knowledge here at LVVS


Rebecca

Book Keeper

Rebecca joined our staff in 2002. You will see her all over the place between receptionist and veterinary assistant.

Rebecca likes any snow or water activities not limited to snow-machining, skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, sailing, and kayaking. She has a love/hate relationship for Super Mario Brothers on her WII.

Rebecca really doesn't have time for hobbies and she is still hoping to find her future goal.


Monique

Receptionist

Monique started at LVVS fall of 2003. She is a graduate of Johnson State College with a BA in Elementary Education and History. She currently has five cats, Bumble, Squeak, Leo, MJ, and Peanut, and Sadie a magnificent mixed breed dog.

She loves being a mother and is blessed with two wonderful children and a loving husband.

Crystal

Administrative Assistant, Groomer & Veterinary Assistant

Interests - Pet Nutrition, Grooming, Dog Training & Behavior

Crystal has been with LVVS since 1998. She works at our pet store, as a receptionist, groomer, and veterinary assistant. Crystal likes sunny summer days and laughing.

Crystal enjoys grooming all breeds, learning new dog training techniques and spending time with her children. Crystal has 2 dogs, Wylie & Buddy, cats named Patsy and Star, a beta fish, and several chickens.

Her favorite part of working at LVVS? Meeting new people and getting to know their pets from puppies and kittens to seniors.

Autumn

Veterinary Assistant

Autumn joined the LVVS team in 2012. She was born in Arizona and lives here in Hyde Park with her husband Fred and their two children Dante and Sabastian. Autumn shares her home with 2 cats, 3 chickens and a fish.

When not at work Autumn can be found playing with her kids. She wants to be a veterinarian and enjoys working at LVVS because she gets to learn new things, which helps her work towards her goals.


Andi

Veterinary Assistant

Education - BS in Animal Science from Penn State University; MS in Physiology from University of Connecticut
Andi grew up in Pennsylvania and moved to Vermont in 1985. She and her husband share their home with a variety of birds, fish and other critters. She started working at LVVS in 2013.

When not at work you can find Andi riding her horse, walking her dogs or just enjoying being outdoors. Andi loves caring for animals at LVVS and being apart of the LVVS team. Her goal is to help all pets have a healthy and happy life.

Dorigen

Receptionist

Dorigen was born and raised in Northern Vermont. Dorigen graduated from New College Of Florida May 2015, with a B.A. in Medieval and Renaissance Studies / Anthropology.

When not at work Dorigen can be found reading, playing video games and cuddling with her cat Audrey.
The best part of working at LVVS is her fantastic co-workers.


Becca

Hospital Manager

Becca joined LVVS in 2013. She graduated from Earlham College in 2011 with a BA in Biology and moved back to Vermont after a few years in Seattle. She lives in Essex with her cat, Lucy, and sheltie, Sophie.

When not at work Becca can be found reading, binge-watching Netflix, and training her puppy in agility. The best part of working at LVVS is that she loves helping animals and their people.


Jennifer

Veterinary Assistant

Jennifer has been employed at LVVS since February 2014. She lives in Elmore where she can be found reading, day dreaming or watching bad TV.

For Jennifer the best part of working at LVVS is the animals.

Jennifer hopes to make the world a better place everyday with her upbeat attitude and her love of life & laughter.

Rachel

Certified Veterinary Technician

Rachel was born and raised in Vermont. She currently lives with her basset hound, Delbert, and two cats (Calvin and Anya).

Rachel is a graduate from Vermont Technical College's Veterinary Technician program and joined LVVS in 2013.

When not at work Rachel can be found reading and writing.

For Rachel the best part of working at LVVS is going home knowing she has helped at least one person or animal that day.

Hillary was born & raised in Vermont. She graduated from Vermont Technical College in 2015 and has worked at LVVS since 2014.

Laurie

Veterinary Assistant
Laurie joined LVVS in 2016. She lives in Wolcott with her Aussie Euca on a small farm.
When not at work, Laurie can be found relaxing with a cold one, reading, or sitting out at her bonfire watching the stars. Laurie's favorite part of working at LVVS is being with her amazing co-workers. Laurie aspires to live every day to the fullest.

Mary moved to Vermont from Tennessee and has been a great addition to the LVVS team since 2016!


Melissa

Veterinary Assistant

Melissa lives in Johnson with her spouse and children. She joined the LVVS team in 2015.

Karen

Receptionist

Originally from Philadelphia, Karen now lives in Essex Junction with her husband, dogs Lola and Rudy, cats Manny and Dale (FIV + and former tough street cats, now pampered babies) and a "knot" of toads. When not at work, Karen can be found playing with the dogs, hiking, and making her own cat furniture and toys. Karen joined the LVVS team in 2017 and aspires to a life of love and happiness with lots of pets.


Victoria

Veterinary Assistant

Victoria joined the LVVS team in 2017. Born in New Jersey, she recently moved to Wolcott from Springfield, Massachusetts. She shares her home with her Fiance and golden retriever, Wilson. Victoria enjoys hiking, taking weekend trips, watching Netflix and reading. She dreams of traveling the world and hopes to learn to ski this winter! The best parts of working at LVVS are her co-workers, learning, and meeting people and their pets.


Deborah

In Loving Memory

Deborah had been with us for 27 years. She started as an assistant and moved up to hospital manager. She shared her home with several cats, chickens, geese, ducks, and a "have tongue, will travel" mixed breed dog, Picard.

Deborah enjoyed the outdoors, sunny days, horses, kayaking, star trek, movies, PBR, and whale watching. Deborah really disliked crowds, traffic, and humid days. In Deborah's spare time she relished in astronomy, gardens, and raised plants to raise money for causes like VETEGA (Veterinary Efforts in Giving to Animals, a non-profit).
